Course Information
Please read this page and be informed about what to expect the day of the course.
Location:
870 Portage Ave. at Home Street, Winnipeg (Commissionaire’s building)
Where should I park?
Free parking behind building. Do not park in slots facing the building. Use the larger lot. Ignore “Reserved” signs. We have permission to park in those slots. If lot is full, use street parking.
When to arrive:
Front doors facing Portage Ave open at 7:30 a.m.
Arrive at least 15 minutes before course start time, once the course starts you will not be admitted.
Being late is forfeiture of your course.
(7:55 a.m. is late.)
Refunds or transfers are not permitted.
You do not need your Hunter’s Safety to take the PAL course.
What to bring:
Pen (blue or black ink)
Paper or a notebook.
A good attitude
Bag lunch, munchies or order in.
Government issued photo I.D.
What to expect during the course.
This course is instructed in English. A firm understanding of English is essential for successful completion of course.
We will read through and discuss the course manual (provided).
Demonstrations of all firearms and ammunition. (Safety now, Safety later)
Hands on time to become comfortable with the firearm.
Questions are an important part of the class, bring yours with you.

No experience required…
If you are unfamiliar with firearms or have never handled a firearm, this course will teach you everything you need to handle Firearms safely.
How long is the course?
• Non-Restricted - 8 hours of course instruction followed by a written test & practical firearms handling test. (Test adds approx. 90 mins. to last person to test.)
• Restricted course - 6 hours of course instruction followed by a written test and practical firearms handling test. (Test adds approx. 90 mins. to last person to test.)
You must have completed Non-Restricted before Restricted course can be taken. You must have reached 18 years of age to attend the Restricted course.
DO NOT BRING:
For the safety of everyone involved, please be advised that swords, spears, clubs, firearms or ammunition are not permitted at the event.
Please don’t use any strong smelling body sprays, perfumes or colognes.
